Love Britax B Ready and more comparisons vs UB Vista and BJ City Select, April 15, 2011

It’s my experience in searching the best stroller for my child.

I had a really hard time deciding between the Britax B Ready, Uppababy Vista and BJ City Select. I’m really grateful for the previous reviewer’s comparison to the Vista which I found very helpful in making this decision. A few thoughts to add on why I ultimately selected the Britax B-Ready:

• Britax B Ready had more configuration options than the Vista and was very close to the Vista in how it handled (though not quite as responsive). It doesn’t have all the configurations as the Select, but I found the Select way too long for me and needed such a wide berth to turn. I almost ran into someone when testing it out in the store.
• No re-thread harness adjustment: I thought this would make switching two kids between the two seats much easier. It takes 2 seconds to adjust the harness height. I thought it might be an issue switching kids between the two seats of the other models if the kids were very far apart in height. But this is so simple to move the height to where you need it for you big kid and back again for the smaller kid. Turns out the no re-thread is just for the top seat. But I still really like it.

• Can use Britax B Ready with a Bassinet AND second seat. You can also fully recline the Britax B Ready second seat for an infant. You can’t use the rumble seat and bassinet on the Vista. Also neither the rumble seat nor the toddler seat fully recline. I know you can use an infant car seat, but I recommend talking to your pediatrician before using an infant car seat for longer than a hour and a half. My cousin is a NICU nurse and I was surprised when she told me that her doctors don’t recommend extended use of infant car seats. Its actually one of the stress tests babies have to pass before leaving their NICU. So I decided to go with an option that I could use a bassinet or flat recline instead of a car seat for trips. Personal choice, but again something to consider.

So after testing driving the three, I think they are so close and all such great strollers its going to really come down to what you need the stroller for most. The City Select definitely had the simplest fold. The Vista offers the organic, soy based bassinet. All had their pros and cons. But, I went with the B Ready for the reasons above and so far really love it. Good luck with your stroller search!
